Member Finds Love for Cycling and Accountability through One-on-one Personal Training.
Georgianna led a sedentary lifestyle and was a smoker for 30 years. During the pandemic, she gained 70 pounds and was slowly losing her flexibility and mobility. As a woman in her early 50s, she knew she had to make a change. She knew a few current members at NorthPointe and made an appointment with Mr. Dave for a tour of the facility.
“I was quite impressed with the beautiful building and grand entrance. Everything about the building felt clean and modern. Dare I say more upscale than other gyms I have seen? I have never been a person that worked out. I didn’t play sports in school. I knew this journey was going to have to be a lifestyle change, but it had to start in my brain first, (like when I decided to quit smoking). I told Mr. Dave that I’m not very accountable to myself. I have equipment in my basement that I don’t use. So I better join today, and I did,” said Georgianna.
She joined NorthPointe Wellness in February 2023 determined to feel better. Georgianna started with just water walking every morning for an hour. Then, soon after she signed up for her fitness assessment with Josh, she scheduled three 30-minute personal training sessions with him.
“I started trying some of the classes. I started training with Josh I love it. He is teaching me so much about how to use the fitness equipment safely and how to use correct form to get the most of every rep. I was falling in love will cycle class. I used all of my three 30-minute sessions, but I was still a little intimidated by the equipment. I wanted Josh S. to continue to guide me through my fitness journey and help me set up a plan for success. I didn’t want to quit so I purchased TWENTY 60-minute sessions. I knew spending the money for a personal trainer would hold me personally accountable.”
It was then that things CLICKED for Georgianna and now she’s all in.
“I’m part of Paul’s Sunrise Cycle Crew on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 5:15 am. If you’re a morning person like I am, I totally recommend joining us. It’s a fun group of people that made me feel welcome from day one.”
Georgianna also continues to train with Josh. She trains on Wednesday afternoons alone to keep herself accountable.
“I’m enjoying other cycle classes with Matt on Saturday mornings and I sometimes join evening classes on Tuesday and Thursday with Tracy. I’m loving it so much that one of my dearest friends joined this week. This is just another layer to being accountable to my own health and fitness journey.”
It’s only been a few months, but Georgianna says her mental health, mobility and fitness have improved.
“I feel it. I look forward to coming to Northpointe Wellness 6 days a week. I have not trained with anyone else but I highly recommend getting a personal trainer. NorthPointe gets a 5-star rating from me.”
