Do you feel stuck in a rut with your fitness routine? You’re not alone. It can be challenging to find an exercise regimen that is not only effective but that is fun to do. Here are two ways to help you add some excitement back into fitness.
Try a new activity.
Trick yourself into having fun by trying something different with your next workout. If trying something new is too daunting, consider revisiting an activity you remember enjoying as a child.
- Racket Sports: Whether you prefer a light game of badminton, a friendly game of tennis, or have taken a liking to the pickleball trend, these are all great opportunities to elevate your heart rate and have fun while doing it. Grab a few friends and hit the courts to burn some calories and improve your health.
- Dancing: Good with a friend or solo, dance is a fun way to improve cardiovascular strength. Not only is it effective as an exercise, but dancing can also improve your mood.
- Skating: In the summer months, lace up your roller skates (or blades) and get outside. This exercise can be moderate to intense depending on your speed and is a great way to stay active. Bring your headphones for even more fun!
- Hiking: Walking is a great way to promote heart health while staying social. Take it up a notch and find a nature preserve or hiking trail to explore while breaking a sweat. Make sure to wear sunscreen to protect your skin and stay safe by letting a trusted friend know your location.
Work out with a friend.
If you’re used to exercising alone, try inviting family or friends next time you work out. If you’re looking to meet new people, consider trying a group fitness class. Led by a certified instructor, group fitness classes are a great way to improve your fitness and meet new friends in an exciting new environment.
By trying one of these ideas, you can stay active and have fun doing it. Did you know that our facility offers complimentary group exercise classes? Come in for a visit and we’ll be happy to get you started.
